Renata Fox

On the example of the segment of German technical reading materials (professional publications, periodicals, bus mess correspondence) dealing with international goods turnover and forwarding the author has attempted a review of the so called 'special language'. Gennan as used in forwarding fits into the general concept of a special language (or technical language) to a major extent from lexical, syntactic and textual aspect. On the other hand it shows certain specific qualities: it makes a combination of a number of technical jargons: legal, administrative, engineering, commercial, financial and banking operations. The lexical elements of English are rather expressedly present. In the teaching process these specific aspects set the requirement for making use of professional publications, students' extra linguistic knowledge and their knowledge of other foreign languages.

Branko Gelo
1993 (Vol 5), Issue 1

The paper deals with some basic aspects of meteorological service management as related to safety and smooth operation of surface transport (road, rail, postal, telecommunications, internal circulation, pipelines, funiculars, pavements and pathways) with reference to different problems regarding safety hazards, environmental protection, economy problems, time-tables and frequencies and transport industry. A review has been made of respective presentation and methods of forwarding given meteorological elements and aspects (reports, forecasts, maps) as required for surface transport with reference to traffic routes (climatological, synoptic-weather).

Josip Zavada
1993 (Vol 5), Issue 1

This paper deals with the measures that may be taken in the engine and outside the engine in an effort to reduce the harmful motor exhaust gas concentration emissions. These measures are being taken and elaborated with the prospect of meeting the increasingly requiring legal provisions on allowed concentrations of harmful exhaust emissions. This is meant to show the extent to which individual measures influence the level of emission of individual components, discussing at the same time the character of individual measures. The paper further reiterates the indispensability of optimization of all measures taken in the engine to reduce the emission of harmful exhaust gases to the minimum.
